That Day has been a song that has captured me from the very moment it had graced my ears. If it's alright with you all...I'd like to translate what the song means, to me anyway. Before I start I want to say these are not facts. I don't know the twins or anyone in relation to them. So don't go off and start rumors because of this simple post... -_-
Of course I'd hate to assume that, the meaning the song comes from a moment in the lives of Bill, Tom, Georg or Gustav. However, when the lyrics seem like they are cutting deeper and deeper in to your mind by the verse, one can't help but assume the origins of the musical peace.
As the song begins to infiltrate the inner workings of your emotions, Bill opens up with a simple yet trail blazing verse. 'Rain falls, it don't touch the ground. I can recall and empty house. You say I'm fixed but I still feel broken...broken.'
I think of this as well, at first an obvious moment of reflection. But when the moment speaks of rain falling and not touching the ground. It's speaks to me in a way such as, expecting another moment of sadness. Or expecting a let down. And as one is going through this dark period of normalcy. He is either is telling himself he's fine, or outside voices telling him things are okay. Something that is part of him is missing. Also this could be a connection for him wanting to find love. His 'house' being his heart. Although he has his material possessions and his youth. He's longing for a little more.
"That day never came. That day never comes. I'm not letting go. I keep hanging on. Everybody says that time heals the pain. I've been waiting for ever. That day never came."
To be waiting for a moment of peace or a longing for love. I see that Bill is expressing a yearning for a sense of sound balance. Waiting for an old wound to be healed. Or just an answer from someone in his life as to why something may have changed.
What ever the case may be. This song continues to fascinate, and baffle me all at the same time.
"You said, I'd be coming home. They said he's fine, left alone. The screams in my mind, I keep them a secret. A secret."
A broken promise left behind in the corners of his childhood? Maybe his father leaving he and Tom? What ever it is, the screams in his mind must still eat away at him.
"Doctors, and your promises. Psychics, healers, I've seen the best. What ever they sell, sure know how to deal it."
Maybe he reached out before he looked within? Wanting some kind of answer? To why his life hit this point in time?
Man, this translations has more questions, than answers. Be it this song is about him filling up an empty void left by love. Or he just happened to have wanted to write a song like this...just because. I will definitely turn to this song on a rainy day. It definitely speaks a lot of similar things that would drive me to write a song such as this.

Bill, if this song did really come from a piece of your heart. Then I hope that day has come. Or is certainly on it's way....
Now it's your turn.
